Nothing Wrong with Taking It Slow

Slow is sustainable. Slow is doable. Slow is spacious.

Slow allows for you to be a complicated human with a messy life.

Slowness allows you to linger…

to relax…

and to enjoy your life more fully.

Slowness invites presence. And presence is a vastly underrated gift.

When you’re going slow and staying present, you can actually smell the rich aroma of your morning cup of coffee, taste its delicious bitterness and notice how your body feels as caffeine starts to have its effect.

You can appreciate how beautiful the trees are as they sway with the wind.

You can really see a loved one’s face, hear the tone of their voice and know how they are feeling.

When you’re going slow and staying present, you can become aware of what’s going on within you - what’s lighting you up, what’s bothering you, what you truly need in each moment, which might be different from what you thought you needed before you slowed down.

Presence is how you create deep connection with yourself and the world around you.

When you’re present, you know when it’s time to go slow and when it’s time to speed up.

This year, I’m taking it slow, easing in and staying as present as possible.

How about you?

Is now a time for you to take it slow?

Take a few deep breaths and ask your body. It knows what is right for you.

It’s perfectly okay to go at your own pace.
