Be Happy on the Way to Your Goal

Reminder: the pose is not the goal.

Sure it’s nice to be able to do fancy yoga poses like handstand, but what I’ve come to realize is more important than a fancy pose is my presence within it and the person I became on the way to the pose.

Having a goal of the perfect handstand is useful because it gives us a reason to have an experience. And the experience is where the magic is.✨

Anytime we work toward a goal, try to achieve something or change our life in some way, we learn, grow, expand and transform along the way.

Would a perfect handstand (or any other goal) mean anything if it didn’t require work and consistent effort?

Maybe. But isn’t it usually the things that come easy that we take for granted? And the ones we have to put effort toward, we usually appreciate more?

This small shift in the perception of our goals - focusing on and appreciating the journey toward a goal instead of making the goal the most important thing - really can change so much.

For me, this little shift means I don’t have to wait to be happy until I get the handstand, lose the weight, make the money, meet the guy or achieve some other arbitrary goal.

I can be happy now...along the way. Still working toward the goal but not waiting for that achievement to make me feel better about myself or my life.

I can be happy now, trusting that the person I become in the process makes the whole journey worthwhile.

Seemingly small shifts like this can truly be life-changing. Perception is everything.

PSYCH-K® and yoga are both amazing tools for this - for changing perceptions about ourselves and our lives to start telling a new story.

If you’re ready to change your story, I’d love to support you. Schedule a connection call or book a session to get started.
