Learning to Rest

I’m taking most of today to focus on resting and restoring. I had a super busy week and a few killer pole dancing classes this weekend, so my body is fatigued, and I’m mentally exhausted.

The old me would probably have just pushed through and forced myself to tackle all the things on my list for today. The old me would have waited to rest until everything was in place and finished.

And, the old me probably would have gotten sick as a result of several days in a row of pushing myself past my breaking point to do all the things.

But, I’ve decided to stop living from that energy of pushing, forcing and control. That’s not the kind of life I want to live.

Instead, I’m focusing on how I can experience more ease and more flow. I’m learning to listen to the signals my body sends me, to honor them and to rest when I need to.

This afternoon, I’m being “unproductive” - drinking a turmeric latte, reading a book I just picked up, journaling and relaxing.

I know that resting today will allow me to have a better day tomorrow - one where instead of rushing, forcing and continually downing coffee to do what I need to do, I’ll wake up refreshed, restored and ready to take on the day and whatever it brings.

Next up: dinner ordered in, an epsom salt bath and early to bed.💤🛏

How are you spending your Sunday?
